Priority List

This is the list of priority ideas that we came up with:

Can ISDS-WebCom provide something analogous to ProMED in ISID (Int Soc for Infect Dis)…ie, a cool service/app that will draw people to www.syndromic.org?

Can ISDS-WebCom take an open-access data source to create an app for 1, above? (eg, 122 cities P&I GoogleMap mash-up?)

Can ISDS-WebCom be the place for the DiSTRIBuTE data to be seen?

Can ISDS-WebCom provide some simple RSS feeds, be it for Surveillance news, Surveillance data, Surveillance research and literature, etc.?

Should ISDS-WebCom get its own site? Or stay on www.syndromic.org?

Should ISDS-WebCom go after its own grants to support these items?

How can ISDS-WebCom help with getting ISDS-WIKI for the other ISDS committees?

Should there be an ISDS blog?

Should some wiki content go blog instead?

Can ISDS-WebCom help with the wiki items that committees are working on (e.g. the “Research Resources”…a little ISDS-WebCom guidance could help move these along)?

Can we create a new ISDS web experience?

Should it replace www.syndromic.org, or be in parallel?

Could parallel sites function as www.syndromic.org for ISDS conference, and organizational items; and www.surveillance20.org for new streamlined dynamic WebCom location for open access data, research resources, RSS feeds, international surveillance survey and directory, cake & ice cream, etc.?

Would it be beneficial to maintain a committee blog?

I spoke to Don yesterday about various web committee subjects; one of the things we talked about was the possibility of setting up a blog for use by the committee to keep track of projects, plans and ideas. My model for such a blog is one I have seen for the public health grid:
http://phgrid.blogspot.com/, which I find very helpful as a resource.

As a result of the conversation I decided to create a test blog to get an idea as to what the blog would look like and how it might be used. We will discuss this further on todays conference call.

Test Post

This is a test post. This blog might be used to keep a track of ISDS web committee business, including what we are doing, what we have done and what we plan to do.
